2011 is what I possibly consider one of the best and most memorable years in my life. I’d like to share a visual journey with everyone on here.

California

The year started out great. I took my first trip to California alone and it give me a chance to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I’ll never forget standing in the Hollywood hills at 6am watching the sun rise. Or driving down the coast to San Diego and just being blown away by the endless oceans and beaches. I really used my week in California to the fullest. Woke up at 5am every morning to shoot and stayed out till 1am shooting just so I wouldn’t miss a single place.

In March I got the chance to shoot The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

The Rising Sun All Stars

April would become the month that changed me the most. I reunited with some friends that meant a lot to me and re-joined their band. Played some of the best shows I have ever played in my life. We got to open for Dead Prez. We performed a bunch of shows in Manhattan at venues such as National Underground, Canal Room and Arlene’s Grocery. We played shows all through the summer and because of that had the best summer of my life. We played a ton of shows in D.C and Baltimore. I look forward to see what 2012 brings us.

Garland Jeffreys & Levon Helm

The beginning of May was amazing for me. I got an E-Mail from Garland Jeffreys asking to shoot him at Levon Helms home. This was such a big honor for me. I’ve shot Garland once before and they really liked me work. Now I’m getting asked to go to Woodstock to Levon’s home. Levon played in the group The Band and also backed Ringo Starr and Bob Dylan. The trip upstate was amazing and the only thing I regret is saying I would spend the night so I could take photos in the a.m but not following through. Garland Jeffreys was so nice to me. I got to eat dinner with him and his band and everybody was very welcoming to having me there. (unfortunately at this time I am not allowed to post any photos of Levon Helm online)

 DMC & The Dirty Pearls

In May I was asked to shoot DMC and had an amazing time doing so. It’s a really interesting feeling doing everything on my own but I couldn’t be happier about it. I got to do things my way this year with no one there to tell me how I should be working or managing my time.

GTRStore

August started a big change in my life. I started a position working full time as a photographer for a high end e-commerce guitar store called GTRStore. This job opened many new doors for me as a photographer. I have never shot guitars before under professional lighting. There was a lot of stress for me as to if I could represent a guitar in a way that makes the buyer want it. Being a musician I knew what I wanted to see when I shop for guitars online. I did days of research, studying and practice on reflective lighting. Almost all photos I’ve seen of guitars you see the lights used in them. I knew I could set the bar for how companies shoot guitars and at most set a standard for great work in the industry. I made my own custom setup for shooting these guitars. From the lighting to the guitar stand used for it.

In October I got to fly out to Nashville, TN to visit the Gibson U.S.A and Custom Shop factoy.

I would like to thank everyone who helped make this an amazing year and to all the bands I shot this year….Thank you!!!

There are so many bands I shot this year that would make this list go on forever. But they will get their own feature very soon.

October Snow

Yesterday we experienced something that rarely happens. Snow on a October day. I was shocked to open my window and see so much snow. I knew there was a chance I’d never get to shoot a snow fall again in the month of October so I jumped at the chance. Here are some of the photos from my adventure around Staten Island, NY.

Engagement Shoot 9-19-11

By on September 19, 2011 | Category: Photos | Tags: , , , , , , | No Comments

I’m very excited to share these new photos with you all. They were shot just yesterday. I had the idea all in my head on exactly how the should would be but as with anything, nothing ever goes as planned. The weather was not so great for most of the day. It would be sunny one second and dark the next. On the way into the shoot it looked like we were riding into a storm but as we got to our first location the sky really cleared up and the day turned out great!

Jared Evan

By on August 30, 2011 | Category: Photos | Tags: , , , | No Comments

Last week I got invited to shoot Jared Evan and his band at Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. Little did I know this artist is much bigger than I thought. You might have heard this song. I was told it was used for two seasons on the end of entourage.

As I pulled up to the venue there was over a thousand people on line waiting to get in. It was such a great shoot being on stage shooting them and hanging back stage. They’re such a talented group and they are some really nice guys too!

Some of the aftermath of Hurricane Irene on Staten Island, New York. As you can see we got a lot of water. Some streets had over 3+ feet of water.

Photos: Late Night Fog

By on May 21, 2011 | Category: Photos | Tags: , , , | 1 Comment

Three years ago I was driving to my bands rehearsal space and it was very foggy out, and as I passed a public park all I kept thinking was. I wish I had my camera because this would make for such an incredible shot. We have not had fog roll in like that for a while now up until last night. I knew what I had to do. Drop everything I was doing and run home to get my camera!

The shoot started at around 3am and I knew there was some risk involved. I had to stop in some areas to shoot where there was no visibility and people were still speeding around me. The third location I went on the highway and got out to shoot a eight exposure photo. It took a few tries on the 1/30″ shot because my whole goal for this shoot was to not have people or cars driving in the shot. Some areas were much easier and I was able to set up, shoot and run to the next location. I knew I had very limited time on my hands to get the shots. I wanted to get everything in before sunrise which meant I only had about two hours to do so.

I’m very proud of these photos and I hope you enjoy this because it took me three years to finally make this happen.

Photos: Vincent “Big Pussy” Pastore

By on August 17, 2010 | Category: Photos | Tags: , , , , | No Comments

On the beginning of the month I got a call from my good friend Rich Russo from 101.9 RXP saying he had Big Pussy from the Sopranos coming down to the studio. I had to jump on this offer. I traveled with my friend and co-worker Chris Olivieri. Listening to my droids gps might have been a bad idea. We almost didnt make it to the studio as the gps kept bringing us every where but to the radio station.

That was my first time at 101.9 or at any real radio station for that matter. They have hot 97 and kiss fm on the same floor. It’s really fun to see how a live radio show is done. Vinny was a really nice guy. Actually hes a really funny guy. He even yelled at Chris at some point because we were goofing off a little. All together I had a great night!

Here are a few photos that were shot during my shoot.

Also you can see what Vinny is up too these days at these two links!

June-July Updates

By on August 13, 2010 | Category: News,Photos | No Comments

I have been very busy working since my last update so I thought I update everyone on what I have been up to with one big post.

During the month of June I started work on a website for a motel in wildwood. They own 4 different motels in the area. During that time I saw asked by the owner to come down to take photos and stay for the night. I traveled alone on the 200 mile trip and it was one of the most relaxing drives I have ever taken. It was my first time in wildwood it is so beautiful out there. From the second I got there I started taking photos, It was about 105F that day too and I was running around in jeans and a tshirt shooting photos for about 6 hrs straight. Finally I settled down into my room and had a relaxing night. It definitely was a peaceful night and drive there and back. Here are some photos I shot during my trip.

In July I got the chance to shoot Alejandro Escovedo at Bowery Electric.  Alejandro was such a nice guy. Very polite and always smiling. I got to meet and talk to Garland Jeffreys during the event. Like Alejandro he was always walking around with a smile on his face. I shot the sound check and after they let everyone in before the show I remember walking up the stairs towards the bar and someone grabbed my arm and to my surprise it was Garland. With a big smile he said to me “I have a new hat on for the show, make sure you take some photos of it!” We both started laughing. I thought it was a funny request. Backstage after the show I let him know I took the photos for him. The show was packed too. People came from all over to catch the show. I got to see John Lennon’s personal photographer the owner of the Miami Dolphins  and many more people that night. After the show we went to the bar and watched Letterman with him. He performed on there earlier in the day. Here are just a few photos I shot that night.

Tomorrow I will have more updates for you all!
